Why did Adolf Hitler hate the Jews? |
|
There does not appear to be any single reason as to why Adolf Hitler hated the Jews with such a passion that it drove him to want to wipe them off the face of the planet; there are however many reasons that have been put forward. Hitlers book, "Mein Camf", which was written in 1924, outlines his dislike for the Jews; indeed there are more references to the Jews than anything else other than national Socialism.
Among his reason were:
In more recent times, in part to fundamentalist Christians in the United States, debates have sparked in regard to the Hitlers religious beliefs (or lack of them) and it is often cited that he was an Atheist.
Adolf Hitler was born in to, and raised in a Catholic family. He was baptised as a Catholic and as far as it is known, the Catholic Church never excommunicated him for his actions. There is more than enough evidence Mein Camf to suggest that at least part of his motivations may well have been religiously inspired in a similar way to that of George Bush when he pronounced that God told him to invade Iraq. Specific quotes from Mein Camf include Hence today I believe that I am acting in accordance with the will of the Almighty Creator by defending myself against the Jew, I am fighting for the work of the Lord. Conversely, while Hitler was reluctant to make public attacks on the Church for political reasons, he did not shy away from permitting or encouraging his inner-circle of anti-church radicals such as Heinrich Himmler, Martin Bormann and Joseph Goebbels and to perpetrate the Nazi persecutions of the churches.
Nothing new for the JewsFor the people of the Jewish faith this was nothing new as they had been persecuted many, many times before over the centuries, and even today by some groups. In the Middle Ages, in some countries, Jews had to wear special badges to identify themselves as Jews. At times were forced to live in ghetto's and thus isolated from the rest of the community (beginning to sound familiar?). The Jews were often blamed for the Black Death by poisoning the Christians drinking water. Jews were murdered for not converting for Judaism. In more recent history, Russia authorities were antisemitic in the early 1900's, Pogroms were issued to evict the Jews out of the country.
This time however, under the guidance of Adolf Hitler, no one saw what was going to happen in the coming years perhaps in the belief that they would just be deported and moved on to become a problem for someone else. |
